TREASURER'S REPORT; Lilly Ann Seipel reported a balance of $1,861.17 as of Aug. 25, 2001. Richard Peters moved the treasurer's report be filed for audit, seconded by Mac Boyer.

SECRETARY'S REPORT; Lilly Ann reported that the minutes of the June 2, 2001 meeting had been mailed to the president and treasurer of all the Conference Societies. Anna Moynahan moved the minutes be accepted as mailed, seconded by Bud Moore, motion carried.

Dick Westfall asked the Conference Members to send any changes of officers to Lilly Ann so that she can keep her list updated. If this list is not kept current, the minutes and other information may be sent to the wrong person and your society will not be informed.

Dick announced that two Directors need to be elected because of the fact that Charles Craig's term will expire at the end of this year and Ron Miner has resigned because of other duties he will have in the ADS. The Board of Directors recommended Richard Peters from the Michigan Dahlia Association to serve a 3 yr. term as director. Charles Craig was nominated to fill Ron Miner's 2-year term. Dick asked for nominations from the floor. Bud Moore moved that nominations be closed. Steve Kuiper seconded. Dick reminded everyone that anyone attending the Midwest Meeting is eligible to vote. A vote was taken and Richard Peters and Charles Craig were elected unanimously. Richard Peter's term will begin Jan. 1, 2001. Charles Craig will fulfill the remainder of Ron Miner's term. Charles Craig also agreed to serve as Education Chairman and organize one or two Judging Seminars.

Ron Miner announced that because of additional claims on his time he was sorry to resign as a member of the Board and also as Education Chairman. He will encourage Charles to have Judging Seminars and help in any way that he can. Ron has printed material, which he would be glad to share with any society that requests the material.

Ron also announced that the National and Midwest Conference Show hosted by the Dahlia Society of Ohio would be held Sept. 12 thru 14, 2003 in Akron, Ohio.

Ellis Evans announced that the Midwest Conference Show would be held in St. Louis at the Missouri Botanical Gardens Sept. 28 and 29, 2002. The banquet, etc. will be at the Holiday Inn.

Dick announced that at the Spring Meeting in Goshen a total of $1,522.00 was raised from the Plant Sale. This money was sent to the Badger State Dahlia Society. Everyone should try to attend this meeting, not only to support the host of the Midwest Show, but also to meet members of other societies and learn what others are doing in their respective societies.

Next year at the Spring Meeting Dan Franklin will speak on his method of growing dahlias. Dan is an Advanced Master Gardener and invited everyone to be present at his talk.

Dick reminded everyone that at the Fall Meeting in 2000 a motion was made and voted on by those present and passed unanimously, that we keep the Midwest dues at $35.00 but no longer give $20.00 from each Midwest Society to the host society every year. This will take effect in the year 2004. This was done because of expenses for Educational Speakers, and costs involved with postage and copies in keeping all the Midwest Conf. Societies informed. Due to the fact that this wouldn't take effect until 2004 it was decided to have a raffle to make money for the Midwest until the year 2004. Lilly Ann Seipel and Dan Franklin coordinated the Quilt Raffle. The original motion stated we would have the raffle at the Spring Meeting. Richard Peters made a new motion that we would extend the time of the raffle and have a fall drawing for any project we might have. Seconded by Steve Kuiper and Mac Boyer, motion carried.

A total of $499.36 was realized from the Wall Hanging Quilt Raffle and the lucky winner was Ruth Tormey of Madison, Wisconsin.

John Ruoff moved the meeting be adjourned, seconded by Bob Moynahan, motion carried.Respectfully submitted,

Lilly Ann Seipel, Secretary/Treasurer
